The Team:
The Rocky Mountain Natural Resource District Revenue Team plays a vital role in managing timber pricing and revenue tasks within the Rocky Mountain District. Led by the Revenue Team Lead, the team consists of Revenue Specialists, Technicians, and Scaling Program personnel, working together to ensure accurate tracking of stumpage and waste billing, which generates millions of dollars for the Crown. Our collaborative and growing team ensures accurate tracking of stumpage, waste billing, and forecasting forest revenue, while working closely with other district teams to achieve shared goals, fostering accountability and professionalism across the board. The Role:
As a key member of the Revenue Team, the Resource Specialist - Revenue focuses on ensuring the accurate review of Cruising, Appraisal Reviews, and Waste & Residue Assessments throughout the District, while administering and monitoring the District Waste Program. In this role, you will collaborate closely with various internal teams, industry representatives, and other provincial partners and stakeholders to uphold the highest standards in timber pricing and ensure accountability in the forest industry. Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Registered, or immediately eligible for registration, as a Registered Forest Technologist with Forest Professionals BC, or a related designation. Note: immediately eligible for registration is defined as being able to transfer a current membership from an applicable jurisdiction to the BC association within six (6) months of employment. Confirmation of registration/eligibility is required before an offer of employment can be made.
- Diploma (or higher) in natural resource management with two (2) years of related experience.
- Related experience must include the following:
- working in natural resource management; and,
- performing technical duties and working with key statutes that support natural resource management.
- Preference may be given to those with:
- three (3) or more years of natural resource management experience; and/or,
- one (1) or more years of revenue stream experience (such as: check cruising, scaling, appraisals, waste & residue, etc.).
Provisos:
- Valid BC Class 5 Driver’s Licence or equivalent.
- Conduct field work, which may include travel to remote areas by vehicle, boat, air or foot, overnight or extended stay in rough camp conditions and outdoor work in all weather conditions.
- Must be physically able to carry equipment and supplies in difficult terrain.
- May be required to operate field equipment (i.e., quad, snowmobile).

About this Position:
There is currently one (1) permanent, full time position available.
This position is located in Cranbrook; Invermere may also be considered.
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to two (2) days at home per week subject to an approved Telework Agreement.
Employees of the BC Public Service must be located in BC at the time of employment.
An eligibility list may be established to fill future temporary and permanent vacancies in the above locations.
Applicants who do not fully meet the required qualifications may be considered for this position, but at a lower classification.
