The Opportunity

Our St. John’s office is looking for Co-op Students to join our Assurance, Tax and Financial Reporting & Insights service lines from Winter and Summer 2025. This role will offer experience with audits of financial statements, compilation financial statements, bookkeeping and corporate tax.

The successful candidate will have the following responsibilities:

• Efficiently and independently prepare financial statement and tax engagements
• Perform limited bookkeeping assignments, including summarizing transactions from source documents to support year end preparation
• Assist financial statement audit teams with detailed testing and execution tasks
• Prepare working files for income tax and information returns for a variety of client
sizes
• Build positive working relationships with clients and work collaboratively with clients to gather information for completion of projects and assignments
• Effectively communicate with team members regarding progress updates and issues on an ongoing basis
• Assist other BDO service lines when needed with various tasks and assignments.

Your experience and education

• You are currently working towards a degree/diploma, focused in accounting, with expectations of graduating in May 2026.
• You are interested in long term growth within the Assurance, Tax or Financial
Reporting & Insights teams
• You may have experience or certifications with Quickbooks, Xero and/or Sage
• You value teamwork, client service, and quality in detailed work

• You display strong attention to detail, problem solving, analytical, and communication skills.
