Your Opportunity

Our National Office is looking for a Data Architect to join the Enterprise Architecture team and own the following responsibilities:

  • Oversee the design, development, and implementation of the end-to-end data platform including data architecture, data integration, data modeling, data governance, business intelligence, etc. to ensure alignment to the overall business requirements.

  • Provide technical oversight and recommendations on the current data platform extending across both cloud and on-premise environments.

  • Work directly with stakeholders to obtain knowledge of objectives, challenges, and requirements regarding the data platform.

  • Actively participate as a member of the Data Governance committee.

  • Present proposed solutions to the Technical Review Committee as well as articulate and communicate designs to stakeholders.

  • Collaborate with Enterprise Architecture, Data Engineering, Development, and Project Management teams to support the delivery of data driven initiatives.

  • Understand and adhere to BDO IT’s standards for building and implementing technology solutions.

  • Communicate work progress, task updates, and other relevant information to project stakeholders, business, end-user community, and management.

  • Develop, contribute, and update technical documentation for standards, policies/procedures, solutions design, product handovers for new and existing technology deployments.

  • Understand technology deliverables and challenges. Provide technical designs, architectural consulting expertise, direction, and resolution assistance.

  • Conduct research, information gathering, and evaluation of emerging technologies, industry, and trends in support of the data platform, data governance, and recommend technologies that will increase cost effectiveness and technology flexibility.

Your experience and education

  • Post-secondary degree in Information Technology, Software Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.

  • 5+ years’ experience in the design and implementation of modern data architectures at an enterprise scale.

  • Experience supporting data architectures and data management concepts/processes such as data mesh, date lake, data lakehouse, data warehouse, etc.

  • Experience working with ETL/ELT tools such as Azure Data Factory and Databricks Notebooks as well as data science programming languages such as Python, SQL, etc.

  • Experience deploying data solutions in ‘Big Data’ platforms (Azure preferred).

  • Experience working with data warehousing and data platforms such as Azure Synapse, Databricks, Azure Data Lake storage, Analysis Services, etc.

  • Experience working with data manipulation and visualization tools such as Power BI.

  • Strong knowledge of data modeling principles following established methodologies.

  • Strong knowledge of data governance framework principles.

  • Strong knowledge of data security, data masking, and anonymization technologies/methodologies.

  • Strong knowledge of ensuring data security, privacy, and compliance with global data protection regulations like GDPR, PIPEDA, HIPAA, etc.

  • Strong knowledge of SQL and database design concepts.

  • Strong knowledge of Master Data Management (MDM) concepts and solutions.

  • Familiar with standard DevOps processes for supporting data platforms.

  • Excellent analytical and decision-making skills.

  • Excellent communication and organization skills.

  • Experience working in a professional services industry is considered an asset.
