The Manager, Payroll Services is responsible for organizing, directing and controlling all activities relating to the payroll process in order to ensure the integrity of payroll processing and ensure the inherent controls.

In compliance with deadlines, he/she will ensure the production of remittances and reports to the various authorities, provide expertise and recommendations in the development, implementation and improvement of procedures and processes in place and allow rigorous monitoring.

Reporting to the Director, Compensation and Benefits, he/she will manage, train, and mobilize the payroll team and work closely with People and Culture business partners to ensure fluidity in day-to-day operations.

Main responsibilities:

• Ensure accuracy and timeliness in the calculation of wages, overtime, special payments, source deductions and payroll.

• Ensure processes are adequate and controls are in place and take corrective action as needed.

• Act as a payroll expert for all provinces in Canada.

• Supervise activities related to month-end reconciliations.

• Ensure proper processing of year-end activities to ensure compliance and completeness within required timelines.

• Facilitate audits by providing data to internal/external auditors.

• Act as interlocutor with various external organizations including Revenue Canada, Revenue Quebec, etc.

• Work closely with compensation and benefits experts as well as People and Culture business partners.

• Collaborate with members of the Finance department to address issues related to payroll services and provide expertise as required.

• Establish, document and communicate business rules and payroll procedures ensuring accurate and efficient management of programs based on changing business requirements and best practices in payroll processing.

• Provide timely, consistent, thorough and thorough service resulting in a high level of customer satisfaction.

• Continually review the payroll service delivery model to identify opportunities to improve quality and efficiency.

• Follow up on changes or new features related to payroll.

• Participate as a subject matter expert in transformation projects impacting the payroll department.

Required profile:

• Bachelor's degree in business administration, accounting sciences, human resources management or appropriate discipline.

• Have a minimum of five (5) years of experience in payroll management in a pan-Canadian company.

• Have a certification from the National Payroll Institute (formerly ACP).

• Have relevant experience in managing or coordinating a work team.

• Have in-depth skills in tax obligations.

• Master the MS Office suite, especially the advanced Excel level.

• Experience with the use of the CGI payroll service (Nethris) is an asset.

• Experience in the implementation and use of Time and Attendance modules is an asset.

• Excellent written verbal communication skills in French and English.

• Possess strong analytical and synthesis skills as well as the ability to complete several files simultaneously in an environment of rapid and complex change, with tight deadlines.

• Strong ability to adapt to rapidly changing situations and ability to prioritize in the heat of the moment.

• Great skills for interpersonal relations, team spirit and collaboration with internal partners.
