The successful applicant will work in compliance with all relevant and applicable legislation and Hospital Policies and Procedures, will practice the Bluewater Health Standards of Performance Excellence and will fulfill their role within the Attendance Support Program parameters. The successful applicant will also possess effective communication and interpersonal skills, will have the ability to work independently and as part of a team, and will have strong attention to detail and accuracy.

Qualifications:

-Grade 12 graduate or equivalent of required
- Successful completion of the Sterilization Technician College Certificate or the MDRAO MDR Techniques course preferred (required within 6 months).
Preference will be given first to candidates who have successfully completed the College Certificate or MDRAO course and then to candidates currently enrolled.

Skill, Ability and Experience:

-Basic proficiency in the use of computers required
-Ability to meet the physical demands of this job required
-Knowledge of medical terminology required
-Knowledge of medical instrumentation required
-Knowledge of autoclaves and sterilization required
-One (1) year recent MDR experience preferred
-Recent experience working in a Healthcare environment preferred

Principal Duties:

-Decontamination and sterilization of instrumentation
-Handling of highly technical fragile equipment
-Participates in unit/department and Hospital Quality Improvement initiatives
-Completes continuing education requirements as necessary
-Other related duties as assigned

Selection will be made on the basis of ability, experience and qualifications as per Article 11.04 of the SEIU Collective Agreement
