The successful applicant will also possess effective communication and interpersonal skills, will have the ability to work independently and as part of a team, and will have strong attention to detail and accuracy.

Qualifications:

• Undergraduate degree in allied health or social science program with additional education in behavioural sciences required
• Board Certified Behaviour Analyst (BCBA) preferred
• Education and experience in Applied Behaviour Analysis required

Skill, Ability and Experience:

• Minimum of five years of experience in relevant health care practice including a focus on elder care and inter-professional care preferred
• Proficiency using Microsoft Windows Office suite (including Outlook, Word and Excel); ability to use other software applications required
• Demonstrate excellence in teaching/facilitating skills including applied understanding of adult learning principles preferred
• Demonstrate an ability to build partnerships and collaborative relationships required
• Demonstrate initiative, creativity and innovation to establish processes for effective knowledge translation required
• Demonstrate knowledge as a subject matter expert as it relates to knowledge translation in working with a geriatric population with responsive behaviours (i.e. P.I.E.C.E.S., GPA certification, Non-violent crisis intervention certification, Montessori methods) preferred
• Demonstrate understanding of current and emerging best/evidence based practice related to behavioural support for the geriatric population required
• Demonstrate minimum knowledge of pharmacology preferred

Principal Duties:

• Provides organizational support to those patients exhibiting responsive behaviours; encompassing those who are ALC or trending toward ALC designation
• Complete observations and functional assessment of individuals and their associated behaviours
• Review previous behavioural intervention plans and their effectiveness of treatment
• Meet with patient and care team to collaborate on revised or new behavioural intervention plan
• Develop behavioural assessment reports and behavioural assessment plans and evaluation thereof
• Train staff on the implementation of the behavioural intervention plan and provide ongoing support with the plan
• Build capacity of the team to care for and manage patients with responsive behaviours
• Create and define behavioural charting for patients
• Update care team and participate in team rounds
• Prepare for case conferences with community partners
• Maintain up to date client records as per hospital policy
• Research articles regarding new information on behavior management and treatment planning
• Collaborate with long-term care and community partners to create successful transition plans for patients returning to community
• Site visits or outreach as needed to transition patients to and from Bluewater Health
• Statistical data collection, reporting and analysis
• Critical incident debriefing
• Participates in unit/department and Hospital Quality Improvement initiatives
• Completes continuing education requirements as necessary
• Other related duties as assigned

This is a Bargaining Unit position which will be based on the Union of the Successful Applicant.
Selection will be made on the basis of skill, ability, experience and qualifications as per the applicable Collective Agreement
