Description
The successful applicant will work in compliance with all relevant and applicable legislation and Hospital Policies and Procedures, will practice the Bluewater Health Standards of Performance Excellence and will fulfill their role within the Attendance Support Program parameters. The successful applicant will also possess effective communication and interpersonal skills, will have the ability to work independently and as part of a team, and will have strong attention to detail and accuracy.

• Member of a Healthcare Regulatory Body required
• Current Certificate of Competence from College of Nurses of Ontario preferred
• Successfully completion of the ACS NSQIP SCR Training/Certification Program (within 1 month of hire)
• Health care experience in an acute care hospital setting within the last two (2) years required
• Experience caring for surgical patients preferred
• Ability to apply critical thinking, problem solving, decision making, conflict resolution and prioritization skills required
• Demonstrated ability in project management and group facilitation preferred
• Quality improvement or patient safety knowledge and experience preferred
• Intermediate proficiency in the use of computers required
• Experience with Oracle Health preferred
• Intermediate level proficiency using Microsoft Windows Office suite preferred
• Ability to apply basic LEAN principles preferred
• Systems level thinking and ability to think strategically preferred
• Excellent oral and written communication skills required
• Time management and accurate prioritization in face of multiple competing urgent priorities required
• Knowledge and operation of data base software, as required preferred
• Participates in hospital quality improvement initiatives
• Audit surgical patient records, collect and analyze data to identify trends and quality improvement opportunities
• Support the development and implementation of surgical quality initiatives to improve patient care
• Deliver continuing education as necessary in collaboration with Manager of Quality and Patient Safety
• Assist in facilitating an interdisciplinary collaborative approach to problem solving and decision making
• Provide assistance to organize necessary frameworks and tools across the surgical program to support a culture of safety that includes quality improvement, patient safety and risk management.
• Assists with the review of surgical program patient safety incidents- reviewing incidents and assisting with initiatives to improve outcomes
• Assists in supporting and arranging program-related events, as required
• Supports the Surgical Quality Improvement Plan
• Builds relationships and gains alignment for clinical support; must be able to articulate questions to receive an appropriate level of support from superiors and peers
• Interacts with all members of the surgical team and administrative staff in a professional and courteous manner
