We are seeking an internal communicator to join our high-performance team.

The BMO Private Wealth Communications Team works with various internal groups to develop and execute strategic communications that support key business priorities. Responsibilities include working collaboratively with business/group and stakeholders to assess communications needs, recommending communications plans & solutions, writing, editing and producing high-quality business communications to ensure they are clear and aligned with company standards, securing necessary approvals, managing translation, working with designers to create, update and publish materials, preparing and distributing communications across multiple audiences and channels, and creating/delivering communication solutions that effectively support and address communications needs.

The successful candidate will have communications planning and writing experience in the financial industry, a commitment to excellence, an ability to partner with a diverse group of business partners, and strong writing and editing skills. They must be dedicated to developing communications of the highest quality, while ensuring that all messaging and strategies are consistent with brand standards and aligned with the firm’s strategic business priorities. They are a team player, and willing to help out with duties as assigned.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with business groups to assess communication needs and recommend strategic plans and solutions.
  • Write, edit, and deliver high-quality business communications that are clear, consistent with brand standards, and aligned with corporate priorities.
  • Work with designers and translators to prepare, publish, and distribute a variety of internal and external communications materials across multiple channels (e.g., emails, intranet updates, newsletter communications, financial policies/guides, client letters, leadership messages, video scripts, presentations, etc).
  • Secure approvals and ensure compliance with regulatory and brand standards.
  • Develop and maintain content across internal digital platforms (e.g., intranet, SharePoint).
  • Support complex, sensitive, or confidential communication projects.
  • Help evaluate effectiveness of communication initiatives, recommending improvements based on insights and business objectives.
  • Build effective relationships with internal stakeholders and ensures alignment between stakeholders.
  • Exercise judgment to identify, diagnose, and solve problems within company rules and guidelines.
  • Work independently on a range of complex tasks, which may include unique situations.
  • Broader work or accountabilities may be assigned as needed.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in internal communications, preferably in the financial services sector, and post-secondary degree in in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism or a related field of study or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Understanding of financial services products and regulatory environment.
  • Completion of the Canadian Securities Course or similar credential is an asset.
  • Bilingual (English/French) is an asset.

Salary:

$54,500.00 - $101,500.00

The above represents BMO Financial Group’s pay range and type.

Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group’s expected target for the first year in this position.

BMO Financial Group’s total compensation package will vary based on the pay type of the position and may include performance-based incentives, discretionary bonuses, as well as other perks and rewards.
