Description
Canadian National Railway Company (CN) is looking for a highly motivated person to fulfill a full-time (40h/week) Intern, Design and Construction position in Montreal, QC from May - Aug 2025.
Job Summary
The Intern, Utilities Coordinator is responsible for the review of utility request installations and work permit applications in Eastern Canada. The incumbent acts as the first point of contact for third-party applicants, utility owners, contractors, and municipalities for works to be completed on CN’s right-of-way, ensuring all regulations, standards and processes are being adhered to by the review of technical engineering drawings.
Major Responsibilities
Review technical drawings for utility applications ensuring CN’s interests are protected, and regulatory requirements are metCoordinate any engineering reviews including external third-party consultant reviews for specialized servicesPrepare utility agreements and work permitsCreate contracts in Systems, Applications and Products (SAP) for service order and network numbers for chargeableWork as the internal point of contact for active work permits and utilities with the field supervisorRequirements
Proficient in project managementStrong organization and communication skillsProficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)Ability to work in a majority French environmentFluently bilingual, both written and verbal (French and English)Working knowledge of Utility drawings*Ability to review engineering memos and drawings*Working knowledge of programs such as Geographic Information System (GIS) and Systems Applications and Products (SAP)*Education
Working towards a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering*Any experience/education/skills/knowledge for these above would be considered as an asset
