The opportunity

As a Business Intelligence Analyst at Canadian Western Bank, you will be responsible for transforming raw data into actionable insights that drive business decisions. You will work closely with various departments to understand their data needs and deliver comprehensive reports and dashboards using Power BI. Additionally, you will administer the Power BI tenant to ensure optimal performance and security.

Areas of focus

  • Assist business stakeholders in realizing their stated objectives using data assets and information products that enable better and faster decisions while ensuring completed solutions meet their specified requirements.

  • Design, develop, and maintain Power BI reports and dashboards to support business operations and decision-making processes.

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements and ensure the accuracy and relevance of data visualizations.

  • Design and implement data models that optimize performance and scalability. Ensure that these models align with business requirements and can be easily adapted to meet changing needs.

  • Integrate data from various sources to create a single, unified view of business performance.

  • Ensure data quality and integrity by conducting regular data validation and cleansing activities.

  • Provide training and support to end-users on how to effectively use Power BI tools and reports.

  • Administer the Power BI tenant, including managing user access, security settings, and performance optimization.

  • Utilize Power Automate and Power Apps to streamline processes and enhance data workflows.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to Power BI reports and dashboards.

  • Perform and support daily tasks such as job scheduling, monitoring, troubleshooting, and remediation.

  • Ensure requirements and solutions are properly documented.

  • Stay up-to-date with the latest Power BI features and best practices to continuously improve reporting capabilities.

Who we’re looking for & what you’ve done
  • Bachelor's degree or college diploma in Data Science, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.

  • 2-5 Years experience in Power BI design and development.

  • Strong proficiency in SQL, DAX and Power Query.

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Knowledge of data warehousing concepts and ETL processes.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with business stakeholders.

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines.

  • Power BI certification.

  • Proven experience as a Data Analyst, preferably with a focus on Power BI.

  • Understanding of financial services and banking industry data.

  • Proficiency in Power Automate and Power Apps.

  • Education or experience in Machine Learning and/or Artificial Intelligence is considered an asset.

  • Ability to work in a collaborative team environment with moderate supervision.

  • Good interpersonal and communication (written & verbal) skills, including technical writing ability.
