The opportunity

Does data speak to you? Do you have a passion for developing visuals to tell the data story? Do metrics & analysis excite you? In this role, the Data & Reporting Analyst will drive the creation, sustainment & administration of multiple data metrics within a business-critical support team for our operations and banking centre network. These analytical metrics are used to measure data quality, SLAs, volumes and areas of opportunity. The consistent delivery of high-quality information will influence business decisions and ensure effective client delivery.

What you’ll be doing

  • Utilize & optimize analytical tools including Power BI & Excel. Create insights that empower decision makers across the organization. These tools will be used to highlight areas of improvement and drive focus on how the team delivers on key strategic objectives. Build scheduled and ad-hoc data extracts, link and analyze the information, perform data integrity checks and conduct analysis.
  • Identify the critical data needed. Conduct analysis to find opportunities for improvement and to assist in the implementation of changes in processes and technology.
  • Develop and maintain reports. Many reports: operational process reviews, productivity, quality of service and SLA delivery, to name a few. Provide key information to many different departments within CWB to drive operational excellence
  • Building dashboards to provide insight & summaries of performance at all levels. Help fuel meaningful coaching conversations, generate robust performance reviews, and influence development. Build a report & training material library to support long-term management of electronic reporting.
  • Collaborate with leaders, IT partners, data science teams to generate impactful results. Grow, develop and optimize the data science community at CWB. Proactively participate, share and exchange ideas in regard to potential procedure enhancements and enhanced methodologies between management and peers based on data analysis.
  • Proactively adapt & enhance, in response to changes to ensure all reporting requirements are met. Apply sophisticated analytics capabilities performing detailed business intelligence analysis and other predictive methodologies interpreting results and developing impactful insights and recommendations.
  • Mitigate risk. Follow all policies, regulatory requirements and the CWB Code of Conduct. This position is accountable to ensuring accuracy and integrity of data and reports and therefore carries significant reputational risk. Ensure the confidentiality of the Bank and our clients are maintained using the best data collection &retention policies.

Who we’re looking for & what you’ve done

To be successful in the role - you are going to need to know a few things about data. Perhaps you studied hard in post secondary and received education in Business, Information Management, Statistics or have a bachelor’s degree in Computer Sciences, Finance, Economics, or Mathematics. And you’ve gained 3-5 years of data analytics and report generation experience in the financial sector, or another sector just as passionate about numbers.

Regardless of your education and experience - you need to check some things off the list:

  • Advanced software expertise Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, Visio)
  • Fluent in coding languages (SQL, VBA, DAX)
