The opportunity

What you will do

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to identify requirements for Power BI Dashboards and reports that provide actionable, data driven insights in support of achieving business objectives.

  • Develop and maintain highly complex, mission critical reports, dashboards, and Power Platform applications.

  • Create advanced visualizations that present complex data in ways that are easy to understand.

  • Develop, test and maintain Power BI and SQL scripts that transform data from the data warehouse and other sources.

  • Design and create tabular data models for high performance and scalability.

  • Conduct advanced data analysis and create complex calculations using DAX.

  • Design, develop and document solutions that follow best practices and meet specified requirements.

  • Provide technical expertise and recommendations in assessing new project requirements.

  • Troubleshoot data-related issues and drive performance tuning and optimization.

  • Assist with the administration of the Power BI platform to ensure it is secure and accessible.

  • Develop and build strong relationships within IT and across the lines of business.

  • Perform peer code reviews to ensure adherence to design, development, and maintenance standards.

  • Contribute to the design and development best practices and guidelines.

  • Advocate the use of Power BI within the organization by demonstrating new features and providing training, mentorship, and support to business users.

  • Participate in post-project implementation reviews or ‘lessons learned’, incorporating these lessons into appropriate process documentation, standards, templates, and checklists.

  • Assist in the development of current to future state architecture roadmaps.

  • Align and promote enterprise data assets principles and strategy.

  • Maintain deep expertise in Power BI, emerging technologies, and best practices.

  • Recommend new procedures and processes to drive desired results on diverse projects.

  • Be an accountable, approachable, positive team member who is purposeful in their actions.

What you bring to this role

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.

  • Certifications in Power BI or other BI technologies would be a plus.

Professional Experience

  • 10 years’ experience in Business Intelligence, data modeling, enterprise

reporting, data visualizations, data analysis and dashboard development.

  • 3-5 years as a Senior Power BI Developer.

  • Demonstrated ability to navigate between big-picture and implementation details.

  • Experience with reporting environments incorporating Microsoft SQL Server technology such as T-SQL, SSRS, SSAS, SSIS.

  • Advanced SQL expertise and strong analytical skills.

  • Highly proficient writing DAX

  • Well versed in database technology, data warehouse design standards and tabular modeling.

  • Demonstrated ability to present data in an intuitive way and familiarity with data visualization best-practices.

  • Experience with Data virtualization tools like Denodo is considered an asset.

  • Education/experience with the Microsoft Power Platform is considered an asset.

  • Education/experience in Advanced Mathematics and/or Statistics is considered an asset.

  • Education/experience in Machine Learning and/or Artificial Intelligence is considered an asset.
