Job Title: Senior Snowflake Administrator (Azure Cloud)
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Snowflake Administrator with a strong background in Azure cloud environments to manage and optimize our enterprise-level Snowflake data warehouse. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the day-to-day administration, performance tuning, security, and scalability of our Snowflake platform on Azure. You will collaborate closely with data engineers, data scientists, analysts, and other stakeholders to ensure the availability, reliability, and efficiency of our data infrastructure. This role requires deep technical expertise in Snowflake architecture, Azure services, and best practices for data warehousing in the cloud.
Your role
- Manage and maintain Snowflake environments on Azure, including account setup, user and role management, security configurations, and resource monitoring.
- Implement and enforce Snowflake security best practices, including network policies, data encryption, access controls, and RBAC (Role-Based Access Control).
- Monitor system performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement performance tuning strategies for Snowflake queries and data loading processes.
- Manage Snowflake storage, compute resources, and cost optimization strategies on Azure.
- Plan and execute Snowflake upgrades, patches, and maintenance activities.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for Snowflake configurations, processes, and procedures.
- Troubleshoot and resolve Snowflake-related issues, providing timely and effective solutions.
- Architect and implement seamless integration between Snowflake and various Azure services, such as Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure Blob Storage, Azure Event Hubs, and Azure Logic Apps.
- Manage and optimize data pipelines and ETL/ELT processes leveraging Azure services to load and transform data into Snowflake.
- Ensure secure and efficient data transfer between Azure and Snowflake.
- Implement and manage Azure networking configurations relevant to Snowflake connectivity and security.
- Collaborate with data governance teams to implement and enforce data policies, standards, and compliance requirements within Snowflake.
- Implement data masking, data encryption, and other security measures to protect sensitive data in Snowflake.
- Audit Snowflake access and usage to ensure compliance and identify potential security risks.
- Work closely with data engineers, data scientists, and analysts to understand their data requirements and provide support for Snowflake usage.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior team members on Snowflake and Azure best practices.
- Participate in the design and implementation of data architecture solutions leveraging Snowflake and Azure.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest Snowflake and Azure features and services.
- Identify opportunities to automate routine administrative tasks using scripting languages (e.g., Python, SQL) and infrastructure-as-code tools (e.g., Terraform, ARM templates).
- Continuously optimize Snowflake performance, cost, and scalability.
Your skills and experience
- Minimum of 5+ years of hands-on experience as a Snowflake Administrator in enterprise environments.
- Thorough understanding of Snowflake architecture, features, and best practices.
- Proficiency in Snowflake SQL for data manipulation, querying, and administration.
- Experience with Snowflake security features, including network policies, RBAC, and data encryption.
- Strong knowledge of Snowflake performance tuning and optimization techniques.
- Experience with Snowflake data loading and unloading techniques (e.g., COPY INTO, Snowpipe).
- Familiarity with Snowflake data sharing capabilities.
- Minimum of 3+ years of experience working with Microsoft Azure cloud services.
- Strong understanding of Azure core services, including Azure Virtual Networks, Azure Storage (Blob Storage, Data Lake Storage), Azure SQL Database, and Azure Active Directory.
- Experience with Azure data integration services such as Azure Data Factory and Azure Synapse Analytics.
- Knowledge of Azure security best practices and services (e.g., Azure Security Center, Azure Key Vault).
- Familiarity with Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) tools like Terraform or ARM templates for Azure resource provisioning.
