JOB DESCRIPTION
We are looking for a dynamic Music Teacher to teach the BC music curriculum to students in grades K-7 on a part-time basis (3 days per week). The ideal candidate will have a strong background in music education and a love for teaching young children. This is a short-term contract position commencing in April 2025, with the potential for a continuing contract for the 2025/2026 school year.

Responsibilities:
• Teach the BC music curriculum to students in grades K-7, covering a range of topics including music theory, performance, and appreciation.
• Lead students in music activities, including singing, movement, playing instruments with everything from “Boom Whackers”, Orff Instruments, Ukulele, Guitar and concert band
instruments, and exploring various music genres.
• Plan and deliver engaging lessons that foster creativity and a love of music.
• Support the development of student musical skills and knowledge in a variety of settings, from classroom instruction to performances.
• Collaborate with other teachers and staff to integrate music into the broader school experience.
• Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment where students feel encouraged and supported.
• Participate in school events and help organize music-related performances and activities.
Qualifications:
• A degree in Music, Music Education, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• A valid teaching certificate (preferred) or eligibility to teach in BC.
• Strong proficiency in playing piano and/or other instruments.
• Previous experience teaching music to children, ideally in an elementary school setting.
• A passion for working with children and helping them develop their musical talents.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
• A positive, enthusiastic attitude and a commitment to fostering a fun, engaging, and welcoming classroom.

On an on-going basis, we accept teacher applications for grade levels K to 12 for our Catholic schools throughout the Greater Vancouver Area and Powell River in beautiful British Columbia. All Catholics, non-Catholics, new education grads, and experienced teachers from across Canada are strongly encouraged to apply. Our major hiring season is in April for the following school year, but we recommend that you apply now as we receive an influx of applications.
