Description
Under the supervision of the Director of Student Services, the primary role of the person in this position is to assist students with disabilities in participating in courses and other activities within the college. The person accompanies the student in their movements, provides the required assistance according to their condition, and ensures their well-being.
DUTIES:
- Accompanies the student to their classroom within the college if necessary.
- As needed, assist the student with everything regarding their educational support.
- Provides behavioral support to the student by delivering clear and respectful guidance to promote positive and appropriate behavior in the classroom.
- May be asked to help the student with mobility and accessibility within the campus, ensuring safe and easy navigation.
- Assists with the handling and preparation of materials or tools needed for academic or extracurricular activities.
- Provides support during group activities to encourage active participation and inclusion.
- Notes their observations concerning the student's needs and behaviors and may be called upon to inform the teaching staff or other stakeholders.
- Communicates regularly with teachers, support staff, and parents (if applicable) to ensure a coordinated support plan.
- Uses information technology and communication tools at their disposal related to the work to be done.
- Maintains accurate and up-to-date records of the student's progress and interventions.
- Supports the student in the use of assistive technology if required.
- Monitors and supports the student during exams or assessments as necessary.
- Encourages and promotes the student's independence and self-advocacy skills.
- If need be, perform any other related tasks.
- A diploma of vocational studies (DEP) in an appropriate specialty or a secondary school diploma (DES) or have a diploma or an attestation of studies which is recognized as equivalent by competent authority.
- Must possess excellent English and French language skills (written and spoken).
- Must have at least one (1) year of pertinent experience.
- Holding a First Aid and CPR Certification (RCR et premiers soins) - would be considered an asset.
- Should possess excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Should have a strong work ethic and exercise discretion.

- Should be able to work independently with minimal supervision and have the ability to work as part of a team.
