About this opportunity:

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Decision Analysis, this position plays an important role and will be responsible for providing analytical and decision oversight for a wide variety of thermal opportunities. Working closely with Asset Development and establishing relationships with cross-functional partners and project teams, this position will help senior leaders comprehend the tradeoffs/alternatives and make the best risked based decision.

What you’ll do:

  • Integrate with project teams to provide consistent, objective, and appropriate economic evaluations, facilitate critical thinking, and ensure efficient interaction with the Capital Allocation Framework and decision/stage gate processes

  • Support quantitative risk assessment of business and investment decisions under uncertainty of technical and economic factors, including supporting senior team members in strategic portfolio analysis and strategy planning activities

  • Design, build, utilize, and ensure industry-leading evaluation models and tools to efficiently meet the needs of the business

  • Contribute to the overall corporate capability and community of decision-making practices by implementing decision quality, crafting positive experiences with opportunity teams, and improving available tools, resources, and training

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support business objectives and promote a culture of continuous improvement and effective decision-making

Who you are:

Our ideal candidate will have the following minimum requirements:

  • Must be legally entitled to work within Canada

  • 5+ years of experience in Engineering, Geosciences, Business, or Economics within the Oil & Gas industry is preferred; however, individuals with less experience who demonstrate a strong interest in learning quickly, balancing priorities, and creative problem-solving will also be considered

  • Programming or coding skills (e.g., Python, R) would be an asset

  • Strong desire to craft and build sophisticated models for analysis and automation, contributing to advancing team efficiency and high-quality analysis

  • Understanding of statistics and probabilities, including their application to economic modeling (such as Monte Carlo analysis, decision trees), and alternative analysis for oil and gas projects

  • Strong commercial, business, and financial skills, with experience in key financial and economic metrics such as net present value, rate of return, and cash flow
