About this opportunity:

Reporting to the NPI Trades Coordinator, the Communications Maintenance Technician will support the NPI (Non Process Infrastructure) in maintaining and delivering safe and reliable communication infrastructure that supports the ongoing operations, construction and production of the facility. This is a boots on ground, tools in hand role supporting the Foster Creek Asset.

  • This is a full-time employee position working a shift of 7 days on 7 days off, 12 hours per day, Wednesday to Tuesday

  • Foster Creek has full-service camp facilities

  • Depending on your place of residence and your shift rotation, bus and/or air transportation to/from site is offered from designated departure points in select locations

  • Foster Creek is serviced by flight Hubs in Calgary and Edmonton

What you’ll do:

  • Escalate issues that require higher authority for input and resolution

  • Identify and implement both strategic and focused improvement efforts that directly support the Plan, Execute, Review, Improve (PERI) cycle

  • Manage infrastructure requests, up-keep and repairs

  • Support new infrastructure development by providing expertise in design, risk assessment, equipment selection, installation, and commissioning

  • Supervise communication support vendor and contribute to budget development

  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and repair communications networks, fiber optic, security cameras, door access control and radio infrastructure

Who you are:

Our ideal candidate will have the following minimum requirements:

  • Legally authorized to work in Canada

  • 2+ years of experience as journeyman in Communication or Electrical field

  • Communication Technician Certification or Journeymen Electrician certification

  • Experience performing maintenance or construction within an operating plant environment

  • Must be comfortable working at heights up to 100' and in confined spaces

  • Knowledgeable on communications systems and up to date on applicable building codes, standards and regulations

  • Ability to interpret communications systems drawings to guide the installation of communication equipment

We acknowledge the value of transferrable skills and may consider equivalent combinations of experience and education should you not meet a specific requirement.

As this position has been identified as safety sensitive, employment of a final candidate selected for this position will be conditional upon successful completion of required pre-employment medical and alcohol/drug assessments

For this position you will be required to maintain a Class 5 driver's license, a satisfactory driving record, and adhere to the appropriate Company policies and guidelines. A driver's abstract will be one of the background checks requested in the pre-employment screening for the final candidate
