About this opportunity:

Cenovus is currently looking for a Maintenance Technician, Mechanical, to join their Lloydminster Upstream Maintenance department in Lloydminster, SK. In this role you will report to the Senior Maintenance Coordinator and will be responsible for ensuring all work under your control is performed in a safe, timely and effective manner consistent with corporate and site-specific policies, procedures, and guidelines. This role will also require residency within 40 km of Lloydminster.

Work Environment:

  • This position is located in Lloydminster and requires the successful candidate to live in the area

  • This is a full-time employee position with a work schedule of 8-hour days/5 days a week

What you’ll do:

  • Support development and implement maintenance programs, as well as perform preventative maintenance and inspection on rotating equipment (60%)

  • Support Major Maintenance team as an execution supervisor to oversee Vessel, OTSG, Exchange inspections/ repairs (40%)

  • Maintain equipment history records using manual and computer systems (SAP)

  • Aligning with all HS&E requirements in the performance of this position's responsibilities as well as reading, interpreting P&ID’s, etc.

  • Work collaboratively with Operations, Maintenance and Engineering teams to clearly communicate, discuss and resolve problems to ensure that maintenance issues are dealt with in a timely manner

  • Responsible for troubleshooting problems and develop/implement vital repairs, as well as providing technical recommendations for process and equipment improvements

  • Support other trades as needed with an ability to work with minimal direction, independently or within a group as well as making use of effective time management to achieve weekly scheduled work

Who you are:

Our ideal candidate will have the following minimum requirements:

  • Legally authorized to work in Canada

  • Red Seal Interprovincial Industrial Mechanic certificate or Red Seal Interprovincial Heavy Duty Equipment Technician certificate with vast experience in an industrial setting

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in an industrial setting performing Industrial Mechanic maintenance within an Oil & Gas, Mining, Forestry, or similar industrial facility

  • Strong problem-solving, organizational, and multi-tasking skills, with experience using CMMS systems such as SAP, MAXIMO, or JDE

  • Knowledgeable about Oil Processing Facilities and SAGD Facilities, with expertise in maintaining and troubleshooting equipment like gas compressors, air compressors, and various pumps (e.g., Ariel, Gardner Denver, Wheatley, NOV)

  • Proficient in laser alignment of couplings, working with centrifugal pumps (vertical inline, horizontal), and mechanical seals (John Crane)

  • Experienced in Root Cause Failure Analysis and Incident Reporting

  • Ability to operate aerial work platforms, skid steer/telehandler, and spider cranes are all considered assets

As this position has been identified as safety sensitive, employment of a final candidate selected for this position will be conditional upon successful completion of required pre-employment medical and alcohol/drug assessments.

For this position you will be required to maintain a Class 5 driver's license, a satisfactory driving record, and adhere to the appropriate Company policies and guidelines. A driver's abstract will be one of the background checks requested in the pre-employment screening for the final candidate.
