About this opportunity:

Upstream Thermal Operations is seeking a Plant Operator for the Rush Lake 1 and Rush Lake 2 Thermal facilities. Reporting to the Operations Coordinator, this role focuses on safely operating and maintaining facility processes and contributing to the smooth performance of the operating team. The successful candidate will play a vital role in troubleshooting equipment, performing condition monitoring, and maintaining essential operational records. Additionally, they will support maintenance activities, provide on-the-job training to new employees, and ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards. Work Environment:

  • This position is located in Lloydminster and requires the successful candidate to live in the area

  • The facility is in rural Saskatchewan located approximately 75 km from Lloydminster, AB/SK

  • Shared work-purpose-only vehicles are provided

  • Work schedule is comprised of a 12-hour shift rotating between days/nights including working weekends/stat holidays (7 on/7 off)

  • You will be required to work in a wide variety of conditions due to the nature of the operation. (ie working at heights, in confined spaces, H2S environment, in extreme weather conditions etc.)

What you’ll do:

  • Maintain and troubleshoot all area-specific equipment to optimize performance to meet production targets as per company guidelines

  • Operate the facility in a safe and effective manner, while working collaboratively as part of the operating team

  • Perform condition monitoring including sampling and testing per area responsibilities, as well as complete area operations records(e.g. volume balances, log sheets, work permits and required reports)

  • Support operations, perform maintenance activities aligned to the site’s operating philosophy, and ensure on-site maintenance workers are advised of Company’s requirements, policies and practices

  • Provide assistance, mentorship, on-the-job training and assessments to new employees as required

  • Align with all HS&E requirements in the performance of this position's responsibilities

Who you are:

Our ideal candidate will have the following minimum requirements:

  • Legally authorized to work in Canada

  • Minimum 3rd Class Power Engineering certificate required; 2nd Class Power Engineering Certificate or significant progress toward completion of a 2nd Class Power Engineering Certificate are both considered assets

  • 5+ years of experience in the oil and gas industry, with a focus on SAGD operations being an asset

  • Experience in operating steam-generating equipment, control panels, oil processing and/or well equipment, and associated processes and systems is an asset

  • Solid understanding of safety and regulatory standards and procedures

  • Mechanical proficiency and strong troubleshooting skills

  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills

As this position has been identified as safety sensitive, employment of a final candidate selected for this position will be conditional upon successful completion of required pre-employment medical and alcohol/drug assessments.

For this position you will be required to maintain a Class 5 driver's license, a satisfactory driving record, and adhere to the appropriate Company policies and guidelines. A driver's abstract will be one of the background checks requested in the pre-employment screening for the final candidate.
