Senior Geologist

About this opportunity:

Cenovus is seeking a Senior Geologist to help drive the evaluation and development of strategic land and resource opportunities within our assets. You will collaborate within a team environment to advance projects through technical assurance processes and identify value-adding land core-up and posting opportunities. Additionally, you will assess Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) strategies, such as CO2, water flood, or polymer flood techniques, to extend asset life and enhance the portfolio's value. Staying ahead of competitor activity and leveraging new technologies will be key to maintaining our competitive edge in the industry.

What you’ll do:

• Conduct geological evaluations and mapping of project areas by integrating core data, logs, and drilling/production information.

• Provide input and recommendations to craft project strategies

• Prepare and present recommendations to senior management through formal review processes

• Collaborate with the Heavy Oil team to integrate subsurface data into reservoir models

• Evaluate open crown, freehold, and industry-held lands for potential land sales or acquisitions

• Stay updated on academic and industry advancements in geological knowledge and new technologies

• Contribute to Long Range Planning (LRP) and annual budget discussions

• Apply a continuous improvement mindset to optimize business practices and enhance project economics

Who you are:

Our ideal candidate will have the following minimum requirements:

• Legally authorized to work in Canada

• B.Sc. Degree or higher within the field of Geology

• Member of APEGA or other Provincial Professional Geoscience Organization (or application status in progress)

• 8+ years of related experience within this industry
