Senior Power Analyst

About this opportunity:

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Power & Offsets, the Senior Power Analyst will work with all levels of Cenovus staff and external service providers to implement a comprehensive approach to both minimizing power cost and enhancing Cenovus' opportunity to profit in power markets.

What you’ll do:

• Provide support and leadership to Cenovus in all commercial and regulatory aspects of power

• Promote and champion the Power group’s role as recognized and respected leaders in the industry

• Provide single point accountability for acquiring reliable and economic transmission level electrical services including technical support, contract negotiation and optimization responsibilities

• Identify and implement strategies to protect against volatility in power prices

• Promote cost effective utilization of electricity by working with the business units to identify sites that could be salvaged, contracts adjusted or rates changed to optimize operating costs

• Prepare, file and follow up on all Alberta Utilities Commission (AUC) power related applications for Cenovus

• Prepare accurate and timely wires price forecasts for use in Corporate planning

• Influence electricity market developments/regulations by representing Cenovus on relevant industry task forces

Who you are:

Our ideal candidate will have the following minimum requirements:

• Formal education in Business, Economics, Engineering or related field

• 8+ years’ of relevant experience

• Excellent understanding of the Alberta and PJM electric industry including rate structures, contracting practices, AESO rules and standards

• Strong analytical and digital literacy (Excel, PowerBI, DAX, SalesForce)
