The Work, Stress and Health Program is currently seeking five (5) full-time, permanent Occupational Therapists. The WSH is a unique service within CAMH in that it works exclusively with third party referrers, such as the Workplace Safety Insurance Board (WSIB). In this role, you will work as a member of an interprofessional team, providing specialized services providing assessment and outpatient treatment for individuals with complex concurrent conditions including some or all of the following: chronic pain, addictions and/or concurrent disorders, post-traumatic stress disorder, depression, and other psychiatric disorders that are related to workplace accidents and trauma exposure.

As a member of an interprofessional team you will be responsible for providing a range of specialized assessment, treatment and rehabilitation services for clients who have suffered psychological injury, medication and/or substance related difficulties as the result of a traumatic or physical workplace accident or event. You will provide client-centred care and ensure security, safety and the COTO standards of occupational therapy are maintained. You will assess clients’ skills and needs, determine overall treatment and rehabilitation readiness, and support development of readiness, develop, implement and coordinate rehabilitation based treatment plans to support clients during the course of their treatment, and if applicable, in their return to work. Your role includes coordination of care for services within CAMH and in the community, and case management activities, acting as a Care Navigator for clients. You will provide assessment as well as individual and group based treatment services reflective of the needs of the clients that include the provision of cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) for anxiety and depression with a focus on motivational interviewing, structured relapse prevention, behavioural activation and exposure therapy and goal setting. This role includes maintaining a caseload of clients, acting as guide and central point of contact for clients to successfully fulfill their agreed upon monitoring contract. This role involves liaising with multiple stakeholders including clients, community supports and physicians, ensuring timely submitting of required reports. This role may involve supporting the Clinical Liaison, including reviewing reports for quality assurance, and assisting with triage mechanisms to facilitate patient flow.

You will have the ability to submit required reporting on time, according to contractual requirements, meeting assigned quality standards of reporting. You will have the skills, professionalism and personality to work collaboratively, providing excellence in customer service to our clients, representatives of contract partners including WSIB, and clinical partner organizations and other stakeholders. You will participate in interprofessional education and training, as well as have capacity to deliver training to external organizations; contribute actively to program development opportunities; support new contracts within the broader Work Stress and Health Program as required. You must be registered and in good standing with the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario (COTO). You must possess a Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy (or a Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Therapy plus a Master’s degree in OT, Rehab Sciences or a related field), combined with (preferred) three years of experience working with individuals who have a serious mental illness. You must also have membership in either the Ontario Society of Occupational Therapy and/or Canadian Association of Occupational Therapy and be a holder of COTO’s pre-requisite Professional Liability Insurance. Preference will be given to candidates who possess clinical experience working with clients with chronic pain, addictions and concurrent mood and anxiety disorders including PTSD/ trauma. Experience providing assessment and treatment for work related difficulties in a third party context, including CBT behavioural interventions, motivational interview skills and substance use, would be a definite asset. You have demonstrated functional assessment skills, therapeutic skills with individuals and groups, case management skills, and conflict resolution skills. Demonstrated superior communication skills (both written and oral), strong interpersonal and organizational skills, experience working with multiple stakeholders, and experience with research process and standardized measures are required. Familiarity with computer-based programs (Microsoft Office, electronic communication) and electronic health records including I-CARE is essential. The ability to work with clients of diverse ethno racial and cultural backgrounds is required. Bilingualism (French/English) or proficiency in a second language would be an asset.
