An exciting opportunity to join CAMH’s dynamic Access CAMH team! Access CAMH is currently seeking a full-time, temporary (18 months) Occupational Therapist. As a member of an interprofessional team at Access CAMH, the successful candidate will be primarily responsible for the coordination and screening of referrals to CAMH outpatient programs and providing client and family support to callers of our public facing phone line. Duties will include but not be limited to, obtaining collateral information; conducting phone screens; providing family support; crisis intervention where required; coordinating and building relationships with other internal and external stakeholders; and other clinical and operational duties. Client care work involved will include: providing phone support to clients and family members that may require brief crisis support, assistance in navigating the system, information about resources and services and other related inquiries. You will liaise with Access CAMH and other CAMH programs, community agencies, and practitioners to coordinate care for clients. You will also contribute to program development; provide support and consultation to information specialists and department secretaries on the team; provide education support to students; and participate in the research activities of the program. Your skills include the ability to make behavioral observations, strong clinical documentation and effective ongoing communication with other team members. A commitment to high quality of customer service is required. You may be asked to collaborate with faculties of occupational therapy on special projects related to the development of the occupational therapist field, contributing to the development of best practices unique to the occupational therapist field and also teaching and mentorship to other professionals. This position will require 830-430 and 9-5 hours.

The successful candidate will possess a Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy (or a Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Therapy plus a Master’s degree in OT, Rehab Sciences or a related field), combined with a preferred three (3) years of experience working with individuals experiencing mental health and or addiction issues. Knowledge of DSM V diagnostic criteria; psychotropic medication; psychosocial rehabilitation principles; crisis intervention; case management and recovery are required. Knowledge of emergency psychiatry, community resources in mental health and substance abuse treatment is an asset. Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills are essential, as well as the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced clinical environment. Strong computer skills and adaptability to new software is necessary. Familiarity with Microsoft Office, Outlook, and PowerChart an asset. You will be able to work effectively as a team member in a dynamic interprofessional environment and be a self-starter. Experience working with clients, staff, and organizations of diverse backgrounds is required. Bilingualism (French/English) or proficiency in a second language would be an asset.
