The full-time, contract (one year) Research Methods Specialist (Senior Analyst) will play an integral role within the Data & Insights team by supporting the development of new analytic and reporting products and solutions. The Research Methods Specialist spearheads epidemiological, data science, and operational research approaches and develops advanced solutions such as Machine Learning (ML), Natural Language Processing (NLP), and simulation models, to drive innovative analytic insights, to respond to strategic, policy and care planning questions for decision making.

Aligned with the CAMH Strategic Directions and under the guidance of the Director, Performance & Insights, the successful candidate will use a range of essential performance reporting methods and advanced analytic tools, including AI-driven services, to support the Clinical Programs at CAMH. The incumbent will be responsible for engaging the stakeholders to understand and formulate their data needs. A range of data science and methodology skills will allow the Research Methods Specialist to work collaboratively with a team of data engineers and analysts to respond to the data needs by development and implementation of data collection, and appropriate methodologies, and to interpret data, implement complex algorithms, conduct analyses, summarize and present key insights.

Occasional on-call responsibilities may be required. This position is located at 1001 Queen Street West and offers flexible hybrid/work-from-home days.

The successful applicant will possess an Honours Bachelor’s degree in a field such as statistics, operations research, data science, biostatistics, epidemiology, health informatics, or recognized equivalent, and will have 5 years of related work experience with data analysis in a health facility or health research environment and/or expertise in statistical modelling or advanced analytics. A Master’s degree in a relevant field with at least 2 years’ experience in clinical or health services is preferred. Knowledge of Ontario’s health care environment is also an asset. The successful candidate will possess demonstrated experience with decision support, health policy, and/or model development and should be familiar with clinical, administrative and demographic databases and standards (e.g., DAD, OHIP, ODB, NACRS, OMHRS, etc.). They have strong programming skills in SAS, SQL, R, Python or equivalent statistical software and experience with AI, ML and NLP. The incumbent demonstrates advanced analytical and problem solving capability with excellent attention to detail. They have excellent interpersonal and communication (written and oral) skills with experience interpreting, synthesizing research and technical information as well as the ability to communicate to diverse audiences. The successful candidate has the ability to work independently, take initiative, manage multiple priorities and also have the ability to work collaboratively and as part of an inter-disciplinary team.
