Test Architect/Lead SDET

This role is hybrid and requires you to be in our downtown Toronto office (250 Yonge Street) / client office (Markham, ON) 3 times per week - subject to change at any time.

Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Lead Software Tester/ Test Architect to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the quality and reliability of our software products through comprehensive and highly-automated testing
. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to develop and execute test plans, identify and resolve issues, and contribute to the continuous improvement of our testing processes.

Key Responsibilities:
• Own the roadmap and architecture of our test automation approach and test suites for our software products.
• Collaborate with development, product, and operations teams to understand requirements and ensure comprehensive test coverage.
• Identify, document, and track software defects and work with developers to resolve them.
• Lead by example - write reference code and pair with the development team.
• Perform code reviews and provide feedback to ensure high-quality, testable code.
• Mentor and guide junior engineers in best practices for testing and automation.
• Continuously improve testing processes and methodologies to enhance product quality and team efficiency.

Qualifications:
• 5+ years of experience in software testing and automation.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Java, or JavaScript
• Experience with test automation tools and frameworks (e.g., Selenium, Playwright, Cypress, JUnit, TestNG, Wiremock)
• Experience and strong understanding of executable specification and behavior driven specification.
• Strong understanding of different types of testing, and their scope and characteristics - Smoke tests, API Testing, Pen Testing, etc.
• Strong understanding of software development life cycle (SDLC) and modern declarative CI/CD
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• Strong communication and collaboration skills
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience with performance and load testing tools (e.g., JMeter, LoadRunner).
• Familiarity with modern declarative CI/CD pipelines and tools (e.g., Azure DevOps, GitLab CI).
• Knowledge of cloud platforms and services (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
• Experience with containerization and orchestration tools (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
