Job Summary

Under the direction of the Supervisor, Access and Privacy Officers, the Access and Privacy Officer will manage and process formal information access requests under MFIPPA; and conduct and review privacy impact assessments for Ctiy programs, services, activities or technologies that involve personal information.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Respond to public inquiries about MFIPPA
• Assist in the preparation of submissions on appeals to the Information and Privacy Commissioner/Ontario (IPC)
• Conduct privacy reviews of technologies, information systems, and proposed programs and policies to ensure compliance with MFIPPA
• Design and implement protocols, procedures, forms and guidelines for Routine disclosure
• Provide advice and assistance to staff on MFIPPA requirements
• Conduct research on Access and Privacy Issues; design and deliver MFIPPA training and ongoing education programs
• Prepare an Annual Privacy Work Plan to identify priorities for privacy-related research and projects
• Design and maintain internal and public MFIPPA web sites, and review and update the City’s Personal Information Bank on a regular basis. Perform other related duties as assigned.

Skills and Qualifications

• Post Secondary education in Business, Information Management, Public Administration, Law or related field.
• Minimum three to five years experience working with the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (MFIPPA) or other related access and privacy legislation.
• Demonstrated ability and knowledge to provide expert advice on the application of the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (MFIPPA) to information access requests and the collection, use and protection of personal information.
• Knowledge of current access and privacy issues, practices and procedures for conducting privacy impact assessments of new technologies, information systems, programs or policies.
• Strong analytical, research, report-writing, project management and presentation skills.
• Must be skilled in communicating, negotiating, problem-solving, analyzing and assessing complex and sensitive situations.

Hourly Rate/Salary: $ 76,313.00 - $ 101,753.00
