Job Summary

Invest Mississauga is seeking a Client Account Manager to support economic growth and business development in the city.

You will provide economic development services that align with the municipal priorities identified in the City’s Economic Development Strategy, and broader Planning and Building Department plans and strategies. As a Client Account Manager, you will report to the Manager, Business Investment and Sector Development.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Compete globally for foreign direct investment including investment promotion activities, lead generation, sales servicing, and delivery of after sales services.
  • Work collaboratively and confidentially with local companies and service providers to support local business retention and expansion plans.
  • Collaborate with internal sector development, marketing, research, and Innovation Hub staff to support economic development initiatives.
  • Monitor industrial and commercial activities and trends, in relation to key sectors.
  • Lead or assist in the development and delivery of long-term international marketing and investment attraction projects and missions.
  • Develop and monitor business/project plans, and provide direction, guidance, and support on multiple lines of business within the Economic Development Division and broader Corporation.
  • Update and maintain Invest Mississauga’s Client Relationship Management System (CRM).
  • Actively pursue investment opportunities using a standardized sales methodology and working toward annual sales targets of job creation and tax assessment.
  • Develop effective professional working relationships with relevant internal and external stakeholder groups to advance Invest Mississauga’s strategic priorities.
  • Represent the City on intergovernmental, regional, and other working groups, provincial forums, conferences and working teams.
  • Act as a first point of contact for business investors and channel partners that require assistance.
  • Make presentations to large and small groups.
  • Evening or weekend work, as well as domestic and international travel may be required.
Skills and Qualifications
  • University or College degree required; Relevant focus including Business, Finance, Public Administration, Planning or Economics preferred.
  • Minimum of three years relevant experience in professional sales or business development.
  • Exceptional focus on value-driven customer service.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, issue resolution skills and business acumen.
  • Ability to develop and maintain professional relationships with key stakeholders including the local business community, real estate development industry and other partners.
  • Proven experience with progressive investment sales and marketing tools including sales methodologies and social media.
  • Deep analytical skills, including the ability to synthesize complex information into verbal briefings, presentations and/or written reports.
  • Competent use of common office and desktop tools including word processors, presentation software, spreadsheets, CRM, and an ability to quickly adopt new technology as required.
  • Excellent organizational, time-management and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and in self-organizing teams to achieve common goals.
  • Political acuity to work with elected officials at the municipal, provincial, and federal governments.
  • An understanding of how government works including the Canadian provincial and federal governments.
  • Understanding of city planning fundamentals, including zoning and land use, and development applications, an asset.
  • Familiarity with international business practices, cultural norms, and diplomacy.

Hourly Rate/Salary: $ 89,464.00 - $ 119,286.00
