Responsible for planning and providing instruction in the martial art discipline hired for and providing encouragement/evaluation of students.
- Trained in martial arts (karate or tae kwon do)
- Support objectives and goals of all recreational Martial Arts programs through quality instruction, supervision and excellent customer and staff relations.
- Plan and implement a comprehensive Martial Arts program to meet the needs of all participants.
- Provide students with instruction and supervision while effectively ensuring the safety of all participants.
- Conduct safety checks of program equipment and allocated facilities daily.
- Perform administrative task as required. (attendance checks, accident / incident reports)
- Assist with set up and tear down of equipment if required. Ensure equipment is properly stored at the end of each class.
- Effectively provide quality customer service and act as a knowledgeable resource to participants and co- workers. Provide information only in your area of expertise.
- Effectively and in a timely manner communicate any issues/ information that could impact the quality and safe delivery of the program to the MOD or your direct supervisor.
- Attend and participate in trainings and staff meetings as scheduled.
- Perform emergency procedures as required.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Incorporate and model the HIGH FIVE® Principles of Healthy Child Development in program delivery where appropriate.
- Martial Art style, strong communication and organizational skills.
- Candidate must be registered with a recognized martial arts organization and possess a valid Emergency First Aid / CPR “B” certificate (Lifesaving Society, Canadian Red Cross Society, St. John’s Ambulance or the Canadian Ski Patrol).
- Must be a minimum of 15 years of age or older
- HIGH FIVE® Principles of Healthy Child Development.
- Employment offer is conditional upon receipt of a Criminal Record Search, Vulnerable Sector Screening that is acceptable to the City of Mississauga.
Hourly Rate/Salary: 25.65 - 34.20
Hours of Work: up to 40 hours per week
