Prevention Agent - Construction Site

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

Under the supervision of the Project Director, the Prevention, Health and Safety Officer ensures that construction sites comply with the requirements of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and the Workers' Compensation Act. This position is full-time and will be specifically assigned to a major construction site located in St-Bruno.


ROLE AND GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Act as a safety advisor to site managers
  • Check the effectiveness of the current prevention program
  • Complete reports of the number of workers on the construction site
  • Conduct daily inspections on the construction site to ensure the safety and health of all
  • Conduct periodic inspections in all areas of the site and ensure that corrective actions from the last inspection are completed
  • Cooperate with various training organizations on site and within the company
  • Demand that immediate corrections be made to deviations noted during a site visit
  • Distribute and comment on the work accident report
  • Enforce the instructions and all safety measures specific to the site
  • Ensure compliance with permits for work at height
  • Ensure that the hygiene measures provided for in the Safety Code are respected
  • Establish and maintain relationships with external groups working in security in order to maintain cutting-edge security techniques on the construction site
  • Immediately notify emergency services in the event of an accident or emergency
  • Intervene when there is a risk of an accident and investigate following an accident
  • Investigate and report on all accidents and serious incidents
  • Issue and follow up on notices of non-compliance
  • Lead site committee safety meetings
  • Maintain an accident log
  • Obtain mechanical equipment inspection certificates
  • Order the work to stop if the situation requires it
  • Record all information relating to accidents, fires and occupational illnesses, in order to provide a prevention guide
  • Write incident and accident reports at work
EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Hold a certificate or attestation recognized by the Commission de la santé et de la sécurité du travail (CNESST)
  • Have at least 5 years of experience in a similar position
  • Hold the security agent certificate
