Nature of the work
The principal and customary work of an employee in this class of employment consists of assisting the teaching personnel in the preparation, presentation, supervision and evaluating of laboratory work, fieldwork and workshops.
Characteristic functions
- Sets up laboratory apparatus and instruments and prepares all material required for laboratory sessions, workshop or field work.
- Participates in the choice of such apparatus, tools, machines and instruments and makes sure they work properly and are rationally utilized.
- Studies the operation and the utilization of the apparatus in order to adapt it to particular needs.
- Is also responsible for the calibrating, maintenance and repairs to be done on such apparatus and, on certain instruments and laboratory electromechanical tools.
- If needed, takes the material inventory and prepares purchase orders.
Required qualifications
- To hold a college diploma with a specialty pertaining to the subject matter to be taught or a diploma or attestation of studies which is recognized by the competent authority.
- Oral and written communication skills in English.
- Oral and written communication skills in French would be an asset.
