About Kahnawà:ke Education Center
The Kahnawà:ke Education Center is an administrative body responsible to deliver locally controlled elementary and secondary school programs and services for Kateri School, Karonhianonhnha Tsi Ionterihwaienstahkhwa, and the Kahnawake Survival School. The KEC administers and supports postsecondary programs and their clients. The KEC is governed by the Kahnawà:ke Combined Schools Committee (KCSC) who are responsible to maintain and uphold all legislation, policies and procedures of the KEC.

Position Summary
Reporting to the Post Secondary Team Leader, and in conjunction with the KEC Post Secondary Team. The Post-Secondary Student Support Clerk (PSSSC) will work directly with students of Post-Secondary Support Program. The PSSSC is responsible to provide initial support to students and is responsible for providing administrative support of the KEC Post Secondary Support Program. The support includes receiving applications for funding, processing applicants and providing financial support for candidates accepted in this program. The position is responsible for maintaining Post Secondary Student files and associated data. The position is also responsible for providing reception, secretarial, clerical and administrative support.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work directly with students processing files, providing advice and helping resolve issues as needed
  • Respond to enquiries from students and parents relating to tuition, reimbursements, etc.
  • Assigning students to a Post-Secondary Counselor
  • Provide information on and directing students to non-profit or subsidized organization where available
  • Provide the required documentation of students by interviewing students who require financial assistance and preparing the necessary documentation
  • Maintain a suitable filing system of all documentation, correspondences, student expenditures, transcripts, etc.
  • Assists in fulfilling daily office procedures for the program by requisitioning and distributing allowance payments and by closely monitoring student expenditures
  • To create and maintain student files
  • To prepare a variety of documents, reports and correspondence
  • To complete all secretarial/clerical functions of the program in an efficient and timely manner
  • Responsible to produce reports on data as required
  • Receive, direct and relay telephone, e-mail and fax messages
  • Direct the enquiries and the general public to the appropriate staff member
  • Greet, assist and/or direct students, visitors and the general public
