Your responsibilities:
 Responsible for tax calculations and remittances, preparing and transmitting tax forms and making timely payments to avoid penalties and interest (instalments, premium taxes, sales taxes on insurance policies, GST/QST, etc.) ;
 Responsible for the complete payroll cycle for approximately 200 employees across Canada, as well as benefits programs, including group insurance, pension, vacation pay and other benefits;
 Ensures compliance with tax laws and regulations according to jurisdiction, and keeps abreast of changes and new developments. Also ensures compliance with payroll and benefits laws and regulations according to jurisdiction, and with company policies;
 Ensures communication with tax and government authorities;
 Responsible for controls related to taxes, payroll and benefits, including analyses and explanations of variances versus budget and previous period, balance sheet account analyses, reconciliations, verification of supplier invoices and discounts, etc. ;
 Responsible for the implementation of projects related to taxes and the payroll and benefits cycle, including tax audits and HRIS deployment (new system, new functionalities, changes), where applicable;
 Develops best practices to improve the efficiency of processes under his/her responsibility, including
responsibility, including documentation of work procedures;
 Supports, advises and collaborates with the tax and payroll & benefits teams of other group subsidiaries;
 Contributes to team efforts by performing any other similar or related tasks.

Your profile:
 10+ years of relevant experience in a similar position;
 CPA designation and/or certification required as a Payroll Compliance Specialist (PCS) or
Certified Payroll Manager (CPM) with the National Payroll Institute;
 Bachelor's degree in accounting, business administration or related field;
 Knowledge of tax, payroll and benefits laws and regulations across Canada;
 Proficiency in Nethris and Taxprep software;
 Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, with strong Excel skills;
 Knowledge of Oracle Financials (asset);
 Knowledge of the property & casualty insurance industry (an asset).
