Role Summary

Reporting to the Recreation and Leisure Leadership Team, this position is responsible for providing direction to the daily operations of the beach area maintaining high levels of customer service through the preparation, facilitation and oversight of animation programming. As a Team Leader there are administration, supervision, and customer service components, which will include working in a Recreation Attendant role and supporting the Recreation Attendants as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, set up and facilitate animation
  • Responsible for the supervision of participants and preparing the facilitators of the activities
  • Maintain safety and security of children and adults participating in recreational activities
  • Be knowledgeable about programs available and help promote them to guests
  • Accountable for proper registration, waiver completion and payment for recreation activities
  • Ensure that service standards are met by associates in all areas
  • Ensure that department goals are communicated, understood, and met by associates
  • Provide information to guests about available recreation facilities, activities, lessons, and equipment
  • Issue Resort recreation equipment to guests by following internal procedures and explaining safety protocol
  • Explain and enforce the rules and regulations of the recreation facilities for the safety and welfare of guests
  • Address guest concerns, requests or issues
  • Conduct inventory of supplies, materials and equipment and inform leader of low supply items
  • Welcome and acknowledge each guest with a smile, eye contact and a friendly verbal greeting using the guests’ names when possible
  • Collaborate with Recreation and Leisure Leadership to develop and carry-out ideas and procedures to continuously improve department performance
  • Serve as an individual contributor and department role model by performing technical or functional job duties such as facilitating an activity, registering guests or cleaning pool area
  • Compliance with all safety regulations of assigned tasks, and ensure a clean and safe working environment with active participation in the health and safety program
  • Issue and distribute uniforms and ensure associates are following grooming standards
  • Assist with refunds, pool and rental check-ins, end of day reports and colleague lunch break schedules
  • Adhere to all environmental policies and programs as required
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Work experience in the hospitality industry within a fitness environment an asset
  • Degree or diploma in recreation, physical education or a closely related field an asset
  • 1-2 years of experience in a recreation environment
  • Current Standard First Aid & CPR ‘C’ certification
  • SmartServe certification
  • HIGH FIVE PHCD Certificate an asset
  • ORCA, Paddle Canada, or similar certification an asset
  • Ontario Boater License an asset
  • Must possess excellent customer service skills
  • Must be computer literate. Preferred candidate will have previous experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, Outlook
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Detail-oriented and works with a high degree of accuracy
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
  • Must be extremely responsible with integrity and ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion

Working Conditions

  • Must be able to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends and holidays
  • Required to move, lift, carry, pull and place objects weighing less than or equal to 25 pounds without assistance
  • Significant exposure to varying weather conditions
  • Stand, sit or walk for an extended period or for an entire shift
  • Reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting and pulling
  • Move over sloping, uneven or slippery surfaces
