Berens River School is a Nursery to Grade 9 School with approximately 429 students. Berens River is a community of approximately 3,546 located on the eastern shore of Lake Winnipeg, a 4 hour drive north of Winnipeg. This lakeside town offers community services such as a general store, Northern store and a community hall. The beautiful surrounding area is a recreational paradise offering a variety of outdoor activities such as fishing, hiking and canoeing.
Qualifications:
Bachelor of Social Work Degree and valid Manitoba School Clinician Certificate (or eligibility for)
Previous experience working in crisis intervention situations with children and youth
Knowledge of community supports and resources
Knowledge of Indigenous Way of Life
Excellent time management and leadership skills
Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
Previous experience in an educational environment and working with Indigenous communities would be considered an asset
An understanding of the importance of developing meaningful relationships with every student
