Boréal Grues Inc. a subsidiary of Groupe Desgagnés and a major player in the Newfoundland and Labrador region, is looking for a Branch Operations Manager to manage and supervise its activities in Labrador City.

Your daily challenges

  • Plan and coordinate all operations: managing the fleet of cranes and heavy equipment, organizing teams and rigorously monitoring projects in the field.
  • Maintain quality relationships with our customers and partners by responding to the specific needs of each site, guaranteeing impeccable service.
  • Oversee the application of safety, quality and maintenance standards, while being a pillar in the promotion of a safe working environment.
  • Manage administrative and logistical aspects, working closely with Tessier and Groupe Desgagnés to achieve business objectives.

What we are looking for

You have a degree in engineering (mechanical, civil or equivalent) and significant experience in operations management or heavy industry. With excellent organizational skills and autonomy, you are recognized for your listening and communication skills, in both French and English.

Specifically, the Branch Operations Manager's main responsibilities are to:

Operations planning and supervision: Organize, direct and coordinate all fleet lifting, transport and maintenance activities in line with the company's operational objectives

Field team management: Supervise and manage site teams, allocate tasks and ensure the efficiency and safety of operations

Ensuring safety and compliance: Implementing safety and quality standards on worksites, carrying out risk assessments and ensuring that all preventive measures are complied with

Equipment fleet management: Oversee the maintenance, daily inspections and availability of lifting equipment, ensuring that it is functional and compliant with operational requirements

Coordination with subcontractors and partners: Manage relations with subcontractors, suppliers and other partners to ensure smooth operations

Customer Relationship Development: Act as a point of contact for customers understand their needs, provide responsive service and ensure customer satisfaction to maintain Boréal's reputation as an industry leader

Administrative and logistical follow-up: Manage administrative aspects of operations (work orders, reports, inventory) and ensure effective coordination with administrative and financial departments

Compliance with corporate policies and OHS standards: Rigorously apply internal health, safety and environmental policies, while training staff in these procedures

Continuous improvement: Identify ways of optimizing operational processes and contribute to the ongoing improvement of department performance

Performance monitoring and team development: Participate in team evaluation and training, encourage skills development and foster a culture of collaboration and safety

Requested skills

Skills required

  • University degree or college diploma in mechanical engineering, civil engineering, construction engineering or equivalent
  • Proven experience in a field related to heavy industry or civil construction, as well as in managing or supervising work teams
  • Ability to communicate fluently in English and French, both orally and in writing
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written), both for supervision and teamwork, as well as for customer relations
  • Knowledge and mastery of Microsoft Office suite software
  • Ability to work under pressure in a context of major constraints (time, material and human resources, changing climatic conditions, etc.).
