Pétro-Nav Inc., a leader in the transportation of petroleum products and a subsidiary of Groupe Desgagnés, is seeking a Navigation Coordinator to strengthen its team.

If you have experience in managing marine operations and excel in coordinating, supervising, and monitoring voyages in full compliance with, this is the perfect job for you!

You will be at the heart of operations, directly liaising with our ships and in-house team. You’ll be responsible for overseeing voyages, ensuring that contracts are honoured, and fostering strong relationships with our customers.

More specifically, the main responsibilities of the Navigation Coordinator are as follows:

Operations Analysis and Management

  • Conduct technical analyses and risk assessments for each trip before issuing service offers, ensuring compliance with all local, national and international regulations.
  • Develop comprehensive understanding of charter parties and contracts to ensure their effective implementation in operations.

Real-Time Supervision and Monitoring

  • Monitor travel progress daily (including reports, fuel consumption, ETA) to identify risks and optimization opportunities.
  • Prepare loading plans to maximize cargo efficiency while minimizing contamination risks.

Coordination and Commercial Relations

  • Maintain strong relationships with various stakeholders (both internal and external), to ensure smooth and proactive communication.
  • Participate in incident follow-up, collaborate with vessels to ensure their availability, and adjust operations as needed.

Optimization and Continuous Improvement

  • Actively engage in the optimizing shipping schedules to maximize cargo and reduce operational delays.
  • Conduct performance studies and propose recommendations for the continuous improvement of our processes.

Administrative Management and Compliance

  • Prepare and transmit necessary instructions to ships, including positioning documents and cargo declarations (AMS, ACI, Bill of Lading).
  • Ensure compliance with ISO standards and internal procedures, contributing to their development to guarantee the accuracy and integrity of operations.

Requested skills

Skills required

 

  • University degree in navigation or transport logistics, or a combination of relevant university education in the maritime field and significant experience related to the position’s duties
  • Three years of experience in managing shipping operations
  • Experience as a crew member on a tanker is a plus
  • Demonstrate excellent relationship management and communication skills with vessels, terminals and other stakeholders
  • General experience in the maritime field, including operations, vessel handling, commercial operations, and charter parties
  • Bilingual in French and English, both spoken and written
  • Proficient in MS Office software
  • Available and willing to travel as needed
