We are looking for a candidate to join our purchasing team!
As a purchasing assistant, you will manage procurement activities related to Hydraulic Equipments, Pipe fittings, Gasket, Hoses. This role involves understanding of technical specifications, doing commercial negotiations from suppliers, ensuring quality product, coordination with Design, Manufacturing & Projects departments to understand Project’s requirement prior to Purchase order issuance and co-ordination with suppliers.
Key Responsibilities
- Faxing/emailing orders
- Track orders and ensure timely delivery
- Update internal databases with order details (dates, vendors, quantities, discounts)
- Follow up with suppliers, as needed, to confirm or change orders
- Making cheque requests for COD vendors
- Liaise with warehouse staff to ensure all products arrive in good condition
- Filling and entering orders with online vendors
- 2++ years of experience in Purchasing,
- Experience in purchasing Hydraulics & other finished equipments for Heavy Engineering/ Steel Industry /OEM is essential. Experience of working with Steel Industry OEM shall be preferred.
Background, Skills and Competencies
- BSc in Logistics, Business Administration or relevant field.
- Experience of working for Heavy Engineering/ Steel Industry, preferably from Steel plant equipment OEM.
- Have a good command over the trading rates/prices, should understand the project requirement in terms of budget, delivery, quality, etc.
- Good understanding of supply chain procedures
- Experience in managing procurement activities including sourcing, contracting, supplier management, new supplier development, commercial negotiation.
- Good communication skills and solid organizational skills
- Good knowledge of MS Office, MS outlook.
- Must be bilingual (English and French).
