Job Description

The successful incumbent will provide patient/family-centered care in collaboration with an interdisciplinary team in a fast-paced and rapidly changing environment. You will be responsible for collaborating and assisting the emergency team with length of stay goals for the department; assisting in all duties related to the collection of blood specimens and ECG's in the ED; all duties associated with specimen collection including clerical, packaging and transportation arrangements; monitoring inventory and ensuring adequate stock for day to day operation; maintaining the PPID equipment.

Qualifications

Halton Healthcare Services is seeking individuals who are competent in their chosen profession; patient/customer focused; team players; effective communicators; caring and respectful and are fiscally responsible.

  • Minimum of one year relevant experience as a healthcare provider in an Emergency department.
  • Certification as a Laboratory Assistant.
  • Knowledge of laboratory computer systems.
  • Medical Terminology required.
  • Demonstrated experience with specimen processing
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills to interact with patients, families and the healthcare team.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and proven ability to work as part of an interdisciplinary team
  • Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English.
  • Physically able to do the job.
  • Satisfactory employment and attendance record.

Additional Information

Hours: Monday to Sunday - Various rotating 12-hour shifts (Hour subject to change based on operational needs)

Salary: $30.494 to $35.150 per hour
