Psycho-Spiritual Care Practice Lead

As a member of the PEaCE program, the Psycho-Spiritual Care Practice Lead is an innovative clinical expert with leadership, clinical care and academic responsibilities.  The Practice Lead works closely with the all Psycho-Spiritual care practitioners, the Director, other PEaCE team members and other stakeholders to fulfill the following leadership roles:
 
● develop and monitor professional standards and emerging best practices in Psycho-Spiritual Care through mentorship and project management;
● ensure high-quality, evidence-based care of patients, families and staff in daily practice;
● act as a resource, mentor and consultant for staff and leaders; 
● engage all members of the Psycho-Spiritual care team in promoting the vision of the PEaCE program and advancing the role of Psycho-Spiritual care across HHS and beyond;
● promote collaboration, teamwork and  a respectful, engaging and joyful work environment; 
● support strategic planning, program evaluation and project management
● monitor and interpret relevant changes in standards, legislation and scope of practice as it pertains to Psycho-Spiritual Care and support practice change implementation within the organization;  
● design effective systems and processes, in collaboration with other trained supervisors, as well as with academic partners, to develop, coordinate and evaluate student/learner education and clinical placements;
● support a positive team culture through collaborative decision-making processes, including human resources planning and continuous professional development for the Psycho-Spiritual Care team;
● develop and support relationships with internal and external partners to achieve the vision of the PEaCE program specifically, and HHS in general;
● support on site PSP’s when required by acting as a liaison with external partners, such as community faith leaders and on-call staff, and ensuring appropriate site coverage;
● facilitate professional involvement in quality, education and research initiatives across HHS.

 The Practice Lead will have a clinical caseload assignment of fifty percent (50%) of the work schedule.


Qualifications

● At minimum, completion of a master’s degree in Divinity, Theology, Religious Studies or related program
● At minimum, 5 years practical and related experience in a clinical setting
● Certified member with Canadian Association for Spiritual Care (CASC)
● Current member of the College of Registered Psychotherapists in Ontario (CRPO)
● Eligible to teach CPE; experience teaching/supervising CPE students 
● Personal maturity, including advanced skills in self-reflection, self-regulation, self-development and the ability to receive and offer constructive feedback
● Team leadership skills, including: the creation of a respectful, joyful and engaging work environment; the ability to promote collaboration within the team; effective conflict resolution skills; the ability to engage all team members in collaborative decision-making, with the goal of reaching consensus
● Strong and demonstrated ability to assess clinical skills in spiritual care and psychotherapy;  ability to mentor staff to identify skill gaps and effective and practical means of addressing those skill gaps
● Awareness of trauma-informed approaches to care and their relevance to staff support and patient care
● Strong and demonstrated experience managing projects: ensuring communication; planning and team engagement; consultation with diverse stakeholders; monitoring work or result/outcome against expected results and established standards; providing constructive feedback.
● Ability to plan strategically, articulate a clear vision, and engage staff in its pursuit.
● Ability to develop, implement and monitor a quality management/improvement program.
● Ability to empower staff to practice at their best; setting a positive example and maintaining a positive, healthy, balanced and respectful environment. 
● Exercise initiative and good judgment with ability to multi-task and set priorities; Excellent time management and organizational skills.
● Inclusive and culturally competent; ability to effectively work with diverse patients, staff and stakeholders.
● Demonstrates leadership competencies: critical thinking and decision making skills, coaching, mentoring, professionalism, demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development, ability to lead and manage change, negotiation and ethical decision-making skills.
● Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written, verbal, presentation); highly adaptable to different communication styles and requirements; an exceptional ability to establish trust relationships quickly and adapt to different styles of communication and diverse backgrounds; Excellent presentation and teaching skills.
● Computer Literacy required.
