Senior Audit Manager

Our client is a medium sized Public Accounting firm which requires an experienced professional to support the needs of their growing client base. They value a healthy work/life balance and are looking for assistance across all of their core competencies, with a focus in their audit and assurance group. This audit position is unique as it will also provide exposure to tax and advisory and has excellent growth potential for the successful candidate to grow into the leader of their Audit practice.
Description of the position:
  • You will assume a high degree of responsibility within the firm by managing client relationships, engagement teams and financial performance of engagements
  • You will plan and execute assurance files from start to finish using a risk based approach while working closely with both clients and partners
  • You will prepare key areas of engagement files fairly independently, supervise and review work performed by junior associates assigned to your engagement teams
  • You will be responsible for tax compliance including the preparation of corporate tax returns and identifying tax planning opportunities for your clients
Profile of the ideal candidate:
A Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) with at least 4 to 5 years’ experience (pre-qualification experience counts) in an audit and assurance environment. This person should be looking to continue focusing on audit but may be interested in greater breadth to their professional experience by adding elements of tax compliance and planning to their work. The emphasis is on the ability to provide superior client service and maintain excellent personal client relationships rather than business development.
The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:
  • Strong technical skills in auditing and accounting including a good working knowledge of Accounting standards for private enterprises (ASPE), Canadian Auditing Standards (CAS) and the CPA Canada Handbook
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills with ability to liaise with senior client representatives
Annual salary to be negotiated based on relevant experience and additional qualifications.
This company is a professional services firm located in Markham which provides assurance, tax, accounting and advisory services to clients in various industries and of all natures and size including individuals, owner-managed businesses, corporations, partnerships and large private companies with annual revenues in excess of $150M.
The firm currently employs approximately 15 professional and support staff and has a growing tax advisory practice led by a specialized tax partner who provides estate, succession and re-organization planning.  The firm also provides consulting and advisory services with respect to acquisitions, divestitures and other transactions, led by the managing partner.
