Job Summary
Under the direction of the Manager and as part of an interdisciplinary team, the Social Worker provides a range of screening, triage, assessment, treatment and case coordination services to a primarily adult community mental health and addiction population. The incumbent provides supervision to students in formal clinical practicums.
Education
- Bachelor of Social Work (BSW)
- Must have current practicing registration with Saskatchewan Association of Social Workers (SASW).
Experience
- Requires a minimum one year (postgraduate) recent recognized experience working within adult community mental health and addiction services.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of a variety of mental health disorders and addiction and harm reduction strategies required to enable clients to sustain stability.
- Knowledge of community resources including treatment programs and support agencies is essential.
- Experience working with mental health and addiction community outreach and competence in delivering mental health and addiction crisis interventions.
- Knowledge of a variety of intervention strategies (individual and group) for individuals with mental health and addiction problems in a community based setting, including, but not limited to: assessment, triage, treatment, case management.
- Ability to identify, implement and evaluate areas of client difficulty across a wide range of clinical presentation and formulate evidence based intervention.
- Cultural competency skills.
- Knowledge of Recovery philosophy.
- Ability to work independently and in a self-motivated manner, ability to respond under pressure.
- Ability to work in a multidisciplinary setting.
- Knowledge and practical application of the Mental Health Services Act and Health Information Protection Act.
- Public relation skills with the ability to maintain effective work relationships.
- Interpersonal competence including effective problem solving; workload management and conflict resolution skills.
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal). Ability to prepare reports in a clear concise and timely manner. Ability to provide public presentations.
- Demonstrated ability to enter and retrieve data in a computer database system.
Other Information
- Preference for this position will be given to HSAS members in accordance with the terms and conditions of the SAHO/HSAS Collective Agreement. HSAS seniority within the Saskatchewan Health Authority will be considered under the Selection Criteria.
- Requires a valid driver’s license. Some assignments may require access to a vehicle for work.
- Ability to work flexible hours; including an ability to work day, evening and weekend shifts based on operational needs.
