Position Summary
Homewood Health™ is committed to enhancing the diversity of our roster of mental health professionals and increasing the availability of crisis management services for Indigenous peoples of Canada (First Nations, Inuit and Metis). As such, we are seeking registered mental health professionals with specific expertise in culturally competent care and understanding of issues faced by our indigenous clients. We encourage individuals with lived experience to apply. Being able to communicate in Indigenous languages such as the Cree languages, Inuktitut and Ojibway, is an added advantage, but not a requirement. As a professional working with Homewood Health™, you would provide services on an occasional, contract basis delivering on-site workplace trauma response and organizational crisis management services for our Crisis Management Services (CMS) Program.
What you'll be doing
• Respond to requests to deliver on-site CMS services in a timely, clinically & culturally appropriate and professional manner; consistent with the unique needs of each critical incident and organizational culture
• Deliver on-site crisis management services that include individual and group crisis interventions, debriefings, and corporate client consultation
• Communicate closely with CMS Managers throughout provision of services
• Document services delivered in accordance with Homewood Health™ requirements
• Experience in stress management and addictions with a solid understanding of how systems of oppression, including racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, colonialism and others impact on and exacerbate these concerns
• Adhere to professional standards and best practices
What we're looking for
• A Master’s degree in Social Work, Counselling or related field, supplemented by specific training in culturally competent care. A Bachelor of Social Work with significant counselling experience will be considered
• A minimum of 2 years of workplace crisis management experience
• Formal training in trauma response, psychological first aid and critical incident response (e.g. CISM; NOVA, Psychological First Aid, or related accredited training)
• A minimum of 1 year experience working with indigenous persons in a counselling setting is preferred
• Lived experience as a member of the Indigenous community is considered a strong asset
• Registration or clinical membership with a relevant professional regulatory body
• Professional liability insurance coverage of $2,000,000 or as otherwise determined by Homewood Health™
• Must be flexible, accessible and available to respond after hours periodically during the week and weekends
• The ability to complete assessments, administer clinical skills in crisis management and customer service delivery
• Demonstrated crisis based, clinical judgment and intervention skills to support traumatic events impacting employees and the workplace
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Ability to use Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook)
• Ability to communicate in English, verbal and written, other Indigenous languages written and spoken are an asset
