What to Expect:

Reporting to the Senior Manager, HBC Heritage and Hudson’s Bay Company History Foundation (HBCHF), the Specialist is responsible for supporting the day-to-day operations, programs, and other matters related to HBCHF’s mandate: to advance the knowledge of and interest in, HBC’s role in Canadian history; and to contribute to Canada’s historical narrative with accurate inclusion and representation of Indigenous cultures, knowledge, and contributions. Your responsibilities will include working closely with the HBC Heritage department and other internal Hudson’s Bay teams.

What you will do:

  • Maintain relationships with HBCHF partners, donors, and stakeholders.

  • Help manage and coordinate Board of Director meetings, and other meetings or events with partners, donors, funding recipients, and applicants.

  • Prepare and coordinate meeting materials, reports, and presentations.

  • Liaise with HBC business partners on product development and execution for HBCHF retail collections.

  • Support the expansion of a donor program and a fundraising strategy with diverse revenue streams.

  • Manage funding requests and ensure clear communication with donors, funding recipients, and applicants.

  • Strengthen engagement through digital storytelling on hbcheritage.ca and social media channels.

  • Respond to external and internal information requests.

  • Manage special projects or events as required.

  • Administrative support for the Board of Directors as needed.

What you will bring to the team:

  • Post-secondary education

  • Experience in corporate fundraising and partnership development.

  • A knowledge of HBC Heritage and demonstrated interest in Canadian and Indigenous history.

  • Previous experience in fostering stakeholder relations, preferably in a library, museum, cultural, or heritage setting.

  • Attention to detail and ability to follow procedures and meet deadlines.

  • Resourcefulness and strong problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • Strong knowledge of digital platforms, with the ability to create engaging content.

About HBCHF

HBCHF was established after HBC donated its corporate records and other documents to the Archives of Manitoba and its collection of artifacts to The Manitoba Museum. The Foundation is committed to funding the continued preservation, promotion, and public access to both collections in perpetuity, as well as providing support to Canada’s National History Society and other impactful historical projects.

Today, HBCHF’s mandate is to advance the knowledge of and interest in HBC’s role in history and to contribute to Canada’s narrative with accurate inclusion and representation of Indigenous cultures, knowledge, and contributions.
