POSITION: MEDICAL LABORATORY TECHNOLOGIST - Microbiology
Primary Site: Stratford

POSITION SUMMARY: Under the general direction of a Lab Supervisor, registered Medical Laboratory Technologists are responsible for performing a variety of laboratory tests, many of which are complex, involve numerous steps and techniques, and require use of professional judgement. Tests may be performed in one or more of the Laboratory sections. Professional application of the principles, laboratory theories, and techniques of medical technology are used to produce reliable results that aid the physician in diagnosis and treatment.
REPORTS TO: Manager, HPHA Laboratory Services and IHLP
DATE REQUIRED: As soon as possible
SALARY: $36.84 to $50.24 per hour
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Graduate of an accredited Medical Laboratory Technology program
- Current registration with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Ontario (CMLTO) in Microbiology
EXPERIENCE:
- At least two years current technical experience in microbiology.
ABILITIES:
- Working knowledge of Meditech Information System and personal computer applications.
- Able to exercise initiative in problem solving.
- Mature, flexible and organized.
- Excellent communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to demonstrate initiative and good judgement in a stressful environment
- Ability to organize, prioritize and adapt to constant changing priorities.
- Ability to direct, mentor, correct and report on work of MLA
- Computer literate (LIS, word processing and spreadsheet programs)
- Ability to work in a team environment
