This role focused on integrating human resources management with business needs, particularly in the area of recognition strategy and implementation. Here are the key responsibilities:

Key Accountabilities:

  1. Based on a solid understanding of the client's business, establish collaborative partnerships with clients to integrate human resources management with business needs and issues, specifically to focus on recognition strategy and implementation.
  2. Lead the recognition portfolio, ensuring programs meet desired outcomes and adapt to business and staff needs.
  3. Oversee and influence the design, data compilation, analysis and follow-up associated with employee surveys, focus groups and other feedback mechanisms. Manage and action feedback from multiple channels, monitoring for trends.
  4. Maintain awareness of the external environment and evolving practices within the industry; make recommendations based on findings.
  5. Lead a team of HR professionals focused on the effective implementation of Hydro One’s recognition programs.
  6. Develop and/or coordinate communications/ events for a variety of audiences to keep project initiatives alive and reinforce new behaviors/key messages; support HR representatives and leaders through the provision of training, key messages, and/or tool development.
  7. Notify line management of current external and internal developments and based on effective organizational diagnostic approaches, recommend appropriate courses of action to generate desired impacts on the management of staff and the effective operation, direction, structure etc. of the organization and how the recognition strategy is supporting desired outcomes
  8. Contract with and deliver services to clients to support the development of strategies and initiatives to ensure staff capabilities and human resources systems meet the progressive or changing needs of their business. Services to line management will be focused in the area of recognition programs to motivate staff and support business outcomes, compensation, and benefits.
  9. Prepare briefing notes, analytics, and other materials for reporting to senior leadership (e.g., ELT and HRLT)
  10. Manage relationship with external vendors.
  11. Oversee the work of external consultants as required.
  12. Proactively educate clients in the interpretation and application of recognition programs
  13. Lead or participate on teams developing human resources- rewards and recognition related plans, systems, strategies etc.
  14. Provide facilitation services to clients as contracted.
  15. Perform other duties as required.

Selection Criteria:

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in running reward and recognition programs across the organization
  • 5+ years of experience must have been in a supervisor or managerial capacity
  • A general university undergraduate degree or equivalent experience
  • Experience working in the development and continuous improvement of HR programs
  • Demonstrated ability to influence change involving multiple stakeholder groups
  • Ability to concisely articulate opinions and make practical recommendations
  • Ability to draft effective and concise materials for various levels (entry-level employees to executives)
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks with varying priority levels
  • Ability to effectively escalate issues to ensure risks are appropriately managed
