Our client is a highly established insurance provider, currently seeking to hire a Claims Specialist (Property) to join their team in Toronto.

This is a hybrid position based in downtown Toronto. The successful applicant should expect to work from the company's Toronto office 2 days per week.

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

  • Managing a diverse personal caseload of commercial property claims, including catastrophe claims, large losses, and complex cases, while maintaining the company's high standards for quality and customer service. The specific caseload will depend on qualifications and experience.
  • Proactively handling all assigned claims, effectively communicating with key internal stakeholders (such as the Leadership Team, Underwriting, Risk Control, and Actuarial departments) as well as external stakeholders (including customers, brokers, and service suppliers) from the initial notification through to final settlement.
  • Contributing to the design and implementation of claims policies, processes, procedures, products, and services.
  • Analyzing statistical information and key performance indicators (KPIs) to identify trends, enhance performance, and support remedial actions.
  • Continuously monitoring, maintaining, and developing personal knowledge and skills through ongoing professional development, including insurance-related courses and at-the-desk coaching.

REQUIREMENTS

  • University degree, college diploma, or equivalent insurance experience.
  • CIP qualification or a willingness to achieve it within an agreed timeline.
  • 10+ years of previous commercial property claims handling experience.
  • Strong verbal and written negotiation skills.
  • Ability to assimilate and comprehend complex information.
  • Proven track record of delivering excellence.
  • Capability to handle high call volumes effectively.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Energy, focus, and a commitment to personal development.
