About the Opportunity

This is an exciting opportunity for a detail-oriented and organized Legal Assistant who is looking for a hybrid Legal Assistant/ Paralegal position. You will play a key role in preparing and managing various legal documents, scheduling court dates, and ensuring that all deadlines and procedural requirements are met.

About the Position

  • Prepare, serve, and file court documents, including Notices of Trial, Notice of Change of Lawyer, and other required filings.
  • Schedule trial dates, discoveries, meetings, and conferences, confirming dates with all relevant parties.
  • Track deadlines and ensure full compliance with court limitations.
  • Open and maintain client files, ensuring adherence to firm policies and procedures.
  • Conduct conflict searches and handle a high volume of emails.
  • Manage calendars, bring forwards, and prepare routine correspondence.
  • Provide administrative support, including preparing monthly invoices.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned, contributing to the firm’s operations and success.

The Requirements

  • Completion of a post-secondary LAA program or equivalent practical experience.
  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience as a legal assistant and/or paralegal.
  • Family law experience is a valuable asset but not required.
  • Solid understanding of BC Supreme Court Rules, court practices, procedures, and filing deadlines.
  • Ability to work overtime as needed.
  • Proficiency in Adobe, MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Compensation

  • $70,000 - $90,000 annual salary, dependent on experience.
  • Extended health, vision and dental.
  • Group RRSP Plan with 2% matching.
  • Annual health & wellness allowance.
