Junior Construction Accountant

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
In a mid-size team of 8, you’ll have an opportunity to provide support to the project accounting team and be assigned specific projects you can watch from start to finish. With the ever-expanding expansion of this company, you’ll be rewarded with growth opportunities down the line, including becoming a project accountant and fully handling your own projects one day.
ABOUT THE POSITION
Reporting to the Head Project Accountant, your responsibilities will include:

• • Matching packing/receiving slips, temp labour tickets, and timesheets to accounts payable invoices
  • Updating temp/concrete/PO log
  • Coding accounts payable invoices for approval and entering them into Timberline
  • Assisting in the preparation of month-end Application for Payment to Owner
  • Updating and maintaining all trade contractor information into software (Contact details, WCB, Insurance)
  • Adhering to proper internal controls and contributing new ideas for improvement
  • Photocopying, filing, preparing, organizing and maintaining accounting/contract/office records
  • Handling daily interactions with suppliers, trade contractors, project accountants and the site project team

REQUIREMENTS

• At least 1 year of accounting/accounts payable experience
• Post-secondary education in accounting or related
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
• Background in the construction/development industry is a major asset
• Proficiency in Timberline is an asset

COMPENSATION

• $60,000 - $70,000
• 2 weeks vacation
• Extended health and dental coverage
• $1,000/year for professional development purposes (on a case-by-case basis)
• $660/year fitness allowance
