Despite their boutique size, their lawyers possess the legal expertise, industry knowledge, and strength typically found at large commercial real estate law firms. About the Opportunity
We are currently seeking a talented and motivated Legal Assistant to join our clients commercial real estate team. This position offers the chance to work alongside highly skilled lawyers on complex and varied real estate transactions, from acquisitions and dispositions to lease negotiations and development projects. The successful candidate will be a key part of the team, providing vital support in delivering exceptional service to clients while gaining exposure to high-level, challenging legal work.

About the Position
As a Legal Assistant specializing in commercial real estate, your responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting lawyers with preparing, drafting, and reviewing documents related to commercial real estate transactions, including purchase and sale agreements, leases, and financing documents.
  • Coordinating and managing timelines and deadlines for real estate transactions.
  • Conducting legal research and gathering relevant information to support real estate transactions.
  • Drafting correspondence and ensuring the accuracy of all documents.
  • Liaising with clients, opposing counsel, and other parties involved in transactions.
  • Preparing closing documents and coordinating the closing process.
  • Managing and maintaining the firm’s filing systems, both electronic and physical.
  • Assisting with billing and time entry as required.
  • Providing general administrative support to the team.

The Requirements

  • A minimum of 2-3 years of experience as a Legal Assistant in solicitor-type work in BC.
  • Experience in commercial real estate would be advantageous, but other areas of law would be considered, such as corporate, business law, or M&A’s.
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Familiarity with legal billing software and time entry systems is an asset.
  • A proactive and positive attitude with the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

Compensation

  • $65,000 - $85,000 depending on experience.
  • Extended health and dental.
  • Flexible vacation.
