ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

This is an amazing opportunity to be apart of a collaborative team and work on complex and interesting matters within a niche practice. After probation you will be allowed to work a hybrid schedule of 3 days in office and 2 days at home.

ABOUT THE POSITION

Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

  • Being the principle point of contact for assigned lawyers, assuming overall accountability for work requested by the lawyer involving key members of the legal support team, such as Law Clerks, Document Specialists, Administrative Assistants and members of the Business Services team
  • Actively participating as a contributing member of the legal team to manage legal matters and provide excellent client service
  • Providing dedicated support and proactively and efficiently organizing the flow of work for specific lawyers in the L&E practice
  • Coordinating the scheduling of important dates including client meetings, court deadlines, conferences, and lawyer and legal team meetings
  • Managing communications, prepare correspondence, and liaise with multiple key stakeholders related to ongoing matters
  • Supporting and coordinating commercial management activities such as matter intake, billing and collections
  • Provide day to day support as required to meet the needs of our lawyers and clients

THE REQUIREMENTS

  • A College Legal Assistant or Law Clerk Diploma
  • Strong written and oral communication
  • Minimum 3 - 5 years of experience relevant experience demonstrating experience with supporting multiple lawyers in a diverse area of litigation with a focus on labour and employment law
  • Proficiency in MS Office including Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, research tools and other systems
  • Familiarity with document management systems (iManage) considered an asset
  • Ability to communicate in a professional manner with clients and lawyers
  • Ability to interact professionally with clients and all members of the firm
  • Strong organizational skills and time management skills
  • Detail-oriented individual with good proofreading skills
  • Excellent multi-tasking skills
  • Ability to follow instructions with minimal supervision and take initiative
  • Able to set priorities while maintaining flexibility
  • A team player with excellent interpersonal skills

COMPENSATION

  • $60,000 - $75,000 (depending on experience)
